Course Synopsis

Many executive sponsors and end users require an overview of fundamental project management practices to ensure their effective participation in projects. This course provides a foundation level overview of project management without delving deeply into the specific skills and techniques required of a seasoned project manager.

This course presents the essential concepts that every project participant must know to plan, estimate, organize and schedule project assignments. From the initial selection of a systems development methodology to defining the distinct phases, tasks and sub-tasks for a specific project.

This course presents project planning, scheduling and tracking concepts. The importance of project management is reviewed and the role of the project manager and other team members is discussed in depth. A team-centric approach is stressed to insure participation of team members.

The role of the Executive Sponsor is examined in detail with specific activities outlined so the sponsor understands their responsibilities to the project team if it is to succeed.

When the participants have completed this course each should feel confident to approach new assignments with the fundamental knowledge of project management techniques
required for successful project completion.
