Course Synopsis

Project Management is neither a mystical art or pure science.

The successful project manager is one who can blend practical experience with established project methods, procedures, methods and techniques.

This course teaches the essential skills that every project manager must have to plan, estimate, organize and schedule project assignments. From the initial selection of a systems development methodology to defining the distinct phases, tasks and sub-tasks for a specific project, this seminar is designed for both the beginning Project Manager who needs a firm foundation and the experienced Project Manager who wants a refresher.

Throughout this seminar our goal is to define projects which have clear objectives, tangible deliverables and well-organized project plans.
 
When the participants have completed this course each should feel confident to approach new assignments with the fundamental knowledge of project management techniques required for successful project completion.

procedures, techniques and tools

Project Planning

Organizing phases and identifying tasks, performing skill assessments,
defining deliverables, preparing and validating estimates,
allocating other critical resources, Budgeting, obtaining sign-offs

Project Scheduling

The History of Scheduling Methods, Establishing Dependencies,
Managing Dependencies, Critical Paths, GANTT and PERT Charting,
Forward and Reverse Project Calculations, Float Time

Task Analysis

Resource and Skill Constraints, Adjusting Estimates, Resource Leveling,
Risk Analysis, Best Case/ Worst Case Estimates

Common Project Manager Mistakes

Overview of 22 common mistakes, how to avoid them, symptoms,
strategies for controlling and correcting them

Class duration is 2 days.
