Internal Consulting Skills
for
Information Technology Professionals
A Three-Day Instructor Led Course

Course Synopsis

The role of the Information Technology organization is undergoing a revolutionary change. The need to develop or deliver comprehensive business solutions combined with emerging technologies has resulted in a fundamental shift in the roles and responsibilities of the I.T. staff. Information Technology professionals are now required to perform as internal consultants within their organization in addition to their traditional roles.

This seminar teaches the essential skills and techniques needed to transform traditional systems developers and service providers into effective internal I.T. consultants. Internal consulting requires that the I.T. organization view itself in a new light. This seminar begins by exploring and outlining the importance of consulting concepts and how each I.T. organization can develop a unique strategy for offering and delivering consulting services to their clients.

The roles, responsibilities, methods and techniques of successful internal consultants are examined, as well as practiced in case study exercises. To perform as an internal consultant new or improved skills will be required. To fortify the abilities and effectiveness of I.T. professionals this seminar teaches client needs analysis, active listening, desirable personal behaviors, meeting planning and execution, proposal development, report writing, and formal presentations. This course explores new avenues of thinking, approaches and self-image.
