Synopsis
The role of the Information Technology organization is undergoing a revolutionary
change. The need to develop or deliver comprehensive business solutions
combined with emerging technologies has resulted in a fundamental shift
in the roles and responsibilities of the I.T. staff. Information Technology
professionals are now required to perform as internal consultants within
their organization in addition to their traditional roles.
This seminar teaches the essential skills and techniques needed to transform
traditional systems developers and service providers into effective internal
I.T. consultants. Internal consulting requires that the I.T. organization
view itself in a new light. This seminar begins by exploring and outlining
the importance of consulting concepts and how each I.T. organization can
develop a unique strategy for offering and delivering consulting services
to their clients.
The roles, responsibilities, methods and techniques of successful internal
consultants are examined, as well as practiced in case study exercises.
To perform as an internal consultant new or improved skills will be required.
To fortify the abilities and effectiveness of I.T. professionals this
seminar teaches client needs analysis, active listening, desirable personal
behaviors, meeting planning and execution, proposal development, report
writing, and formal presentations. This course explores new avenues of
thinking, approaches and self-image.
The goal is to develop consulting skills which result in effective and
collaborative partnerships between
clients and internal consultants.

During this course the student will develop essential analytical and consulting

needed for the effective performance of a business analysis project. While
performing case study
exercises the student will learn to document existing business processes
and define workable
specifications for new business solutions.
When this course has been completed, the attendee will have developed

for performing business analysis projects.
